PowerPlugs: Transitions and PowerPlugs: 3D Titles

3D acceleration hardware is not required to use PowerPlugs: Transitions and 3D Titles.  However, it is very useful for speeding up the effects creation process.

PowerPlugs:Transitions and 3D Titles run well on nearly every 3D graphics chip and board manufactured today. There are however, certain legacy boards and even some graphics board still being manufactured that aren't capable of handling 3D graphics in real time. The following is a list of 3D graphics accelerator chips that are known to cause problems when using PowerPlugs: Transitions and 3D Titles based on our testing and customer feedback. (For details about the compatibility testing criteria, please go to the end of the page).

If any of the solutions below fail to fix the problem with your system, please contact technical support.

Monster 2

These cards can cause:
1. Crashes
2. Black screens, presentations hanging after first slide

3DFX Voodoo based cards are not designed to run business applications. The current Voodoo 3 cards are designed to accelerate non-game applications www.3dfx.com

ATI /All models

These cards rarely cause:
1. No transitions, but sounds effects are heard
2. No transitions

1. Download the most current driver from www.ati.com
2. Make sure your color depth is at 16 Bit
3. Set acceleration to FULL

S3 /Virge MX

1. Chip seems to perform with certain system combinations better than others. Please test your system using the demo download before purchasing to determine if your system handles the Transitions properly.

1. Download Demo

2. The newes drivers should fix this problem.

Laptop

NeoMagic /
MagicGraph 128
MagicMedia 256 AV

1. Effects do not render, or render each time View Show With 3D is called.

NeoMagic chips do not support 3D Acceleration. In most cases they require the acceleration to be set to NONE to allow Transitions to render the effects properly.

Enable or Disable 3D graphics acceleration:

Windows 95/98 has a utility that allows users to turn video card acceleration On or Off.
You can use this feature to resolve problems with your video cards ability to handle 3D acceleration.

Please Note: This is a standard functions of Windows so all video cards should support this feature. However not all video cards behave properly, and this setting change can, in rare instances, require you to restart Windows in SAFE MODE to return the acceleration setting to FULL.

To enable or disable 3D graphics accleration, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Click on the Start Menu\Settings\Control Panel shortcut.
  2. Double click on the System Icon, in the Control Panel.
  3. Click on the Performance Tab in the System Properties Dialog.
  4. Click on the Graphics button in the Performance tab.
  5. Either Slide the acceleration to FULL, or NONE based on the recommendations above.
