CrystalGraphics' mission is to become the dominant provider of compelling and easy-to-use 3D graphics software that helps businesses communicate more successfully —- on the Web, through presentations, and through videos.

Products

In pursuit of its mission, CrystalGraphics had introduced the following innovative products in the last 18 months:
  • In November 1997, it released Crystal 3D IMPACT! Pro, designed to add still and animated 3D titles, logos and more to Web sites, presentations and videos.

  • In April 1998, it released 3D VORTEX Volume 2. It’s a collection of spectacular 3D transition effects that plug into popular digital video editing software such as Adobe Premiere.

  • In June 1998, CrystalGraphics introduced 3D Sensations For Presentations Volume 1. 3D Sensations is the first and only plug-in for Microsoft PowerPoint that adds television-style 3D special effects to presentations.

  • Also in December 1998, it released 3D Sensations For Presentations Volume 2. This second volume of effects adds a new collection of captivating 3D transition effects for PowerPoint 97.

  • Then in February 1999 it released PhotoActive FX Volume 1. PhotoActive FX is the first and only plug-in for Microsoft PowerPoint that adds artistic still and animated image processing effects to pictures used in presentations.

 

Distribution

CrystalGraphics’ products are well respected and widely used. They are sold and distributed through the Internet, catalogs, direct mail, VARs and OEMs. Some of the OEMs who have selected CrystalGraphics products for bundling include: Adobe, Astound, AT&T, ATI Technologies, Diamond Multimedia, Discreet Logic, FAST Multimedia, JVC, Lucent Technologies, miro, Pinnacle Systems, Sony Corporation and STB Systems.

History

Founded in 1986, the company was an early leader in the professional 3D videographics industry. In that arena, it is best known for its development of Crystal TOPAS Professional, which was arguably the first commercially successful 3D animation package for the PC. CrystalGraphics was also the developer of the 3D-effects creation software for an innovative real-time 3D effects system widely used by television broadcasters, which won an Emmy award in 1994. More recently, CrystalGraphics has taken on a new challenge. That is to break 3D technology out of its traditionally small niche by developing an all-new line of incredibly easy-to-use 3D animation tools designed for mainstream business users. Its award-winning product suite now includes Crystal 3D IMPACT Pro, Crystal 3D VORTEX, and 3D Sensations For Presentations. These products help business users communicate more successfully, by helping them easily add professional-looking still and animated 3D graphics to their Web sites, videos and presentations.
